Police have caught the robbers and confiscated most of the stolen materials within less than 11 hours after the office of shippings private limited on the 5th floor of G. Fiyaathoshige was robbed.
Speaking at press briefing held yesterday at Police Headquarters, Head of General Investigation Unit, Inspector Ahmed Mohamed said that a huge sum of money and a lot of electronic equipments were stolen from the above mentioned place in the night of 9th of this month.
He said that the stolen items include laptops and laptop accessories.
According to Inspector Ahmed Mohamed, forensic evidence gathered from the scene and intelligence lead to the arrest of 3 robbers with the stolen items within less than 11 hours of the robbery.
The arrestees are Ibrahim Ziyad, 19 of M. Reyalivaage and Nihaz Ismail 19 of H. Anasam. Inspector Ahmed Mohamed said that that a third one was arrested in K. Villingili while the press conference was going on.
95% of the stolen items and a huge amount of money have now been found, Police say.
Ahmed Mohamed called upon the people to increase security measures at such offices, saying that this robbery was carried out in a very fearless manner.
Other than this, Inspector Ahmed Mohamed said that Police have caught Farish Naseer, 24 of H. Alavaluge who stole expensive cameras from a studio located in the first floor of H. Magnoliage.
According to Police, the Farish has been sentenced for 6 years in a drug offence and the cameras he stole has also been confiscated.
