Addu Residents living on fear, learns Miadhu

miadhu

Miadhu News have learnt that residents of Addu are living in an ongoing state of terror, due to the drug addicts on the streets.

Talking on the phone from Addu, Hussain Manikufaanu said that the biggest headache is that the drugs are now being targeted at young children “Nowadays more and more children are being draw into drugs. This is something we have to be very sad about” he said.

He also said that the number of traffic accidents are increasing because of the drug addicts speeding vehicles on the roads. He said that even on Monday night such an accident occurred, only for the offender to speed away even faster before anyone could reach there.

He further added that a lot of people refrain from using the link road, because speeding motorcycles cause loud sounds from silencers and other parts of the vehicles.

As Hussain Manikufaanu said, the biggest dilemma a person could face it to have to live upon terror. People who stay strong through such atmospheres often end up as victims of psychological diseases.

Despite continued pleas by the people of Addu over the past years, the issue has been pretty much neglected by concerned authorities. Today, the foremost request to the government by the people of Addu, is to save them from the darkness and terror that has taken over their Atoll, and to make their surroundings a safe place to live.
