17 year old girl attempts suicide

A 17 year old girl from Male’ has slashed her wrists and jumped in to the sea due to an incident that occurred at her home.

According to Maldives Police Services the incident occurred at last night and that the girl jumped in the sea after slashing her wrists near Hulhumale’ ferry terminal. She was immediately rescued by a police officer who was at the ferry terminal when she jumped in to the sea. She was immediately rushed to IGMH Hospital for treatment, according to Police.

According to Police investigations so far reveals that the 17 year old girl attempted suicide by slashing her wrists and jumping in to the sea due to an incident that occurred in her home. Police also informed that the matter is now being looked in to by Family and Child Protection Unit of Police.
Police also informed that a 23 year old youth was found dead inside a toilet in a house in Male’. The 23 year old was identified as Mujuthaba Ayaz of Ma Easy Rest.

Police informed that Ayaz hanged himself inside the toilet of his room and was discovered by family after they broke in to the room.
