Two injured as Police van flips over during high-speed chase

A Police van in pursuit of two men on a motorcycle, believed to have committed a robbery from a house in Fuvahmulah, flipped over after crashing with the cycle and injured two people.

According to reports, the driver of the Police van had lost control of the vehicle when the van crashed into the motorcycle, going into a skid before hitting a wall and then turning over. The wall that the Police van hit was destroyed and the cycle being ridden by the two alleged thieves had also fallen during the accident.

The two people injured in the accident, which had occurred early Wednesday morning around 4:00am, were the driver of the Police van and the man who was riding the motorcycle. The man who was riding in the passenger seat of the motorcycle had survived the accident without any injuries and had managed to escape.

The man riding the motorcycle had suffered various injuries and wounds in the accident. According to reports the driver of the Police van had suffered serious wounds to his hands. Both of them have been admitted to the Gnaniviyani atoll Hospital for treatment.

Police have not revealed any information regarding the accident.
