It has been revealed that the fund created to collect financial aid for Palestinians suffering from the ongoing Israeli military offensive, has collected more than 146,000 Maldivian Rufiyaa.
The fund was initiated at the rally held at Artificial Beach to voice against the Israeli offensive into Ghaza last Friday. The rally was organized by numerous political parties and non-profit organizations.
Although the container to collect the money is being kept at Adhaalath Party Office, the fund is being looked after by a special committee selected by all those involved in the event.
The Committee yesterday said that they planned to try to arrange for money to be collected from all regions in the country where they expect to get aid. The Committee also told Miadhu News, that they believe that every Maldivian would want to lend a helping hand at a time where hundreds of thousands of muslims are being treated so lowly at Ghaza.
"We are sure that we will get aid from fisherman, farmers, people working in different industries, civil servants, people serving in political posts and well-off people alike. We hope to provide at least around 100,000 US Dollars to those suffering in Palestine, on behalf of the people of our country" they said.
