An Indian man who fell into the sea while trying to board a dive boat docked in the Hulhumalé lagoon was found dead in the lagoon.
Officials from the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) said that Nuzoom Mohamed Ismail, 33, had fallen into the Hulhumalé lagoon while trying to cross over to a dive boat from a safari boat called “Blue Dolphin” last Wednesday afternoon.
According to the MNDF, Nuzoom’s body was found around an hour after he had fallen into the lagoon, and near the area where he had disappeared. By the time the Coast Guard divers had located his body at the bottom of the lagoon he was dead, the MNDF official said.
Police said that Nuzoom had gone to the “Blue Dolphon” safari boat on the request of a friend who was on the safari boat and that he was accompanied by four other close friends. Police said that they were currently in possession of the body and that they were trying to find out what they could about the incident and the victim.
